Villa Tamu Seseh - Villa One
Complex of Villas - Canggu Villas - Price range: US$ 100 - US$ 300
Villa Tamu Seseh 1 is a one-bedroom villa comprised of a semi-open air living and dining pavilion leading into a bedroom complete with an en-suite garden bathroom. The villa also boasts an elevated relaxation pavilion and a swimming pool.
The villa is entered via a set of double antique doors leading from a small courtyard. Here, two Balinese statues rest in a serene lotus pond, with three trickling water spouts.
The living and dining pavilion is open on three sides and features a soaring ‘alang alang’ thatched roof supported by coconut wood pillars above a cream terrazzo floor. Ceiling fans and gentle breezes keep this area cool; it is tastefully furnished with a cushioned sofa, chairs, and a circular table created from a mosaic of white coconut shell. The pavilion also integrates an open-plan kitchenette, for the use of the guests on those occasions when they might not require waiter/waitress service from the main Tamu Seseh service-kitchen. The kitchenette is located behind a terrazzo bar and is complete with a gas hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery. Inside the fitted cupboards, guests will also find a stereo CD/cassette player.

The air-conditioned bedroom is accessed from the living area, the entrance marked by a pair of primitive-style Indonesian wood carvings. The bedroom features a cool terrazzo floor and a canopied queen-size four-poster bed. A satellite TV and DVD player is positioned within a built-in alcove, and a ceiling fan provides additional comfort. A fitted cupboard houses a safe deposit box, together with a chest of drawers and ample hanging space. Local artwork adorns the walls and boat-shaped lamps illuminate the pitched roof. Double antique doors lead into the en-suite garden bathroom where ‘his and hers’ washbasins with freestanding circular mirrors rest upon a terrazzo washstand. The washstand is sheltered by the eaves of the roof and garnished with mother of pearl sea shells. The romantic bathroom is planted with shrubs and bordered by a hedge of bamboo; a green tiled sunken bathtub is approached by four steps below a decoratively carved wall plaque. Stepping stones lead across loose pebbles to a sheltered outdoor shower, and the toilet is hidden in a recess. Sliding glass doors provide an alternative route into the main garden.
The shady walled garden features a flat lawn with two pool loungers and an umbrella beside a 10 x 3 meter lap pool. It is planted with mature trees, fan palms, a flowering ‘Dadap Merah’ tree, and a border of heliconia, red ginger and bamboo. A flight of wooden steps leads up to the top storey of the elevated ‘balé’. Complete with timber deck and encompassed by a wooden balustrade with a built in cushioned sofa, this enchanting all-timber double-decker relaxation pavilion offers delightful rural views of the neighboring coconut plantation and rice fields. Cushioned seating on both decks ensures the comfort of the guests.
